Thomas Calder, aka Daggy Man aka Tom Calder, have made a collaboration album - combining the unique perspectives, sonic signatures, and conceptual approaches of two of his solo monikers; “The Resume Of My Character” is a wholly unique project. 

 “I’ve been making music under various monikers for some years, and when the songs started to form for this new album, they seemed to blur the lines between one project and another” says Calder.

“One day it just suddenly clicked for me - it really felt like these two parts of myself speaking were speaking to each other through the music, dancing in unison - and the songs seemed to really be unconsciously about breaking down that dichotomy and finding the beauty in the coming together. Contrast is at the heart of this collaborative project - The light and the dark, the loud and the quiet, the manic and the meek - It’s all about harnessing that energy and trying to capture and express those feelings and states within the songs”. 

 The resulting album is an artistic kaleidoscope of the avant-garde, with splashes of pop, musical theatre, rock, folk, and hip hop - It’s a breath of fresh air in a musical landscape that continues to err toward the familiar and reliable.

“A lot of the time, music is my way of inhabiting and making sense of, or exploring my feelings; so with each song, what you’re really hearing is someone in the middle of going through something. I developed a sense of dissociation from my daily life a long time ago, as a mode of protection from a lot of hurt and fear I was dealing with. Although a lot of the source of that initial anguish is gone, the dissociation is something I’m still very much trying to unlearn, or let go of. Over the years, my music has always been one of the only places where that connection to “feeling” has remained very strong, sometimes overwhelmingly so, and I think you can hear and feel that in the songs.”

 In the context of his back-catalogue, which spans 3 projects and 8 albums in 11 years. “The Resume Of My Character” firmly solidifies Thomas as an artist and musician who is wholly unafraid of being unabashedly himself, letting instinct and emotion drive the creative process, rather than any external pressure of industry or genre expectations.
