Australian indie folk artist Daggy Man (the solo project of Thomas Calder) returns with “Ten Minutes”, the first single from his forthcoming album, Always Almost. The single will be released on June 13, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Calder’s ongoing exploration of vulnerability, presence, and poetic restraint.

Where past releases have gently probed the emotional edges of love, loss, and identity, “Ten Minutes” narrows the lens, focusing on a sliver of time that unfolds into something much larger. Set against sparse yet immersive instrumentation, the song unfolds with quiet intensity: “Waiting in the car / Begging for forgiveness / Washing the hours off / Like it’s the afternoon.”

It’s a piece that feels suspended, both grounded in the ordinary and steeped in existential awe. With lines like “Wasn’t I taught that / Nothing means anything / Such a strange idea,” Calder continues to craft work that draws power from simplicity and presence. The song doesn't chase a crescendo; instead, it lingers, making space for reflection, silence, and the kind of gentle ache that refuses to fade.

“Ten Minutes” sets the tone for Always Almost, Daggy Man’s seventh full-length release, due later this year. In this collection, Calder leans fully into the subtlety he’s long been known for. The album doesn’t strive for grandeur. Instead, it finds strength in stillness, grace in quiet moments, and truth in the spaces we often overlook.

“Always Almost isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about the quiet moments that shape us,” Calder explains. “It’s about leading with love, embracing the magic in the pauses, the breaths, the moments that often go unnoticed but hold everything together.”

With a growing body of work that includes 11 albums across three projects, Calder’s thoughtful songwriting and distinct voice have earned him a reputation as one of Australia’s most quietly compelling artists. A recipient of both the Grant McLennan Fellowship and the APRA PDA award, Calder has performed alongside the likes of Big Thief, Julia Stone, and Father John Misty, and has appeared at festivals such as SXSW, The Great Escape, and Harvest.

“Ten Minutes” is available June 13 on all streaming platforms, a softly radiant entry into a new era for Daggy Man, inviting listeners to slow down, breathe, and feel the depth in the quiet.
