‘An Unsuccessful Séance’ is a distillation of the emotions and experiences that have shaped the past year of Thomas Calder’s Life. It’s a marker in time, chronicling the personal journey of a man forced to reckon with the darker parts of himself as he adjusts to life as a new father.

The sonic palette and narrative songwriting reflect this inner journey and over the course of its 10  songs, ‘An Unsuccessful Séance’ dances deftly between fits of cathartic, chaotic energy and moments of quiet reflection. In this album, the abrasive and distorted sit side by side with the soft and delicate, painting the picture of a person struggling to reconnect with the light and beauty of life while dealing with the inner demons that force themselves to the surface.
